BREAKING: Actress Jane Fonda Arrested for Protesting Climate Change at the US Capitol

Citing teen Climate activist Greta Thunberg as her inspiration, progressive actress Jane Fonda has been arrested at the U.S. Capitol for protesting climate change.

Per TMZ, Jane was arrested Friday along with a number of other protesters on the steps on the east side of the Capitol building. In video from the demonstration, you see Jane being placed in handcuffs and escorted into a police van.

Jane was demonstrating with the group Oil Change International over the climate change crisis. The protest is part of Jane’s “Fire Drill Fridays” initiative — she’s vowed to protest outside the Capitol every Friday, rain or shine, and says she’s been inspired by Swedish teen activist Greta Thunberg and her weekly climate strikes across the globe.

Fonda says she recently moved to D.C. “to be closer to the epicenter of the fight for our climate.”

Per a 2018 FoxNews report, Jane Fonda has drawn a comparison on Thursday between President Trump, with his criticism of the media, and the infamous Third Reich.

“If you’ve read anything about the rise of the Third Reich and Adolf Hitler, you will see the parallels,” Fonda reportedly said. “Attacking the media is the first step in the move towards fascism. The cornerstone to democracy is an independent, democratic media.”

Yahoo reports after recently revealing she moved to Washington, DC with the intention to get arrested, Jane Fonda was hauled in by police for protesting on Capitol Hill on Friday. The 81-year-old actress and political activist was demonstrating to demand the government take action to battle climate change.

WUSA9 reporter Mike Valerio shared videos of Fonda, in a checkered newsboy cap and red coat, being arrested on the steps of the Capitol Building. She was protesting with over a dozen other people.
