Pelosi Told Dems They Should Have Held Lewandowski in Contempt “Then and There”

According to Politico sources, Pelosi told Democrats she would have held Corey Lewandowski in contempt “then and there” during his hearing.

Newsmax reports House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., viewed sometime presidential adviser Corey Lewandowski’s smug standoff with House Judiciary Democrats on Tuesday as worthy of contempt of Congress “then and there,” according to Politico sources.

Pelosi’s comments were made during a private meeting, according to sources in the room.

A spokesperson for the speaker stressed to Politico, Pelosi’s rebuke was aimed at the potential New Hampshire Senate candidate and now House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler, D-N.Y., who is leading the pursuit of impeachment – despite Pelosi’s long-held, publicly shared view it would deliver political blow to Democrats in 2020.

“A critique of the witnesses’ behavior, not the handling of these hearings,” the spokesperson told Politico.

Lewandowski’s refusal to answer questions about his testimony to the special counsel and smug responses to Judiciary Democrats were hailed by conservatives Wednesday, but the speaker saw Lewandowski’s behavior as “beyond the pale and contemptible,” per the report.
