Trump & His Campaign Respond After Biden Claims He’s The First Racist President To Be Elected

During a town hall event on Wednesday, former Democratic Vice President Joe Biden claimed that President Trump is the first “racist” president.

Biden was questioned during the event, which was organized by the Service Employees International Union, about Trump’s tendency to refer to COVID-19 as the “China virus” or “Wuhan virus”, The Hill reported.

“What President Trump has done in his spreading of racism … the way he deals with people based on the color of their skin, their national origin, where they’re from, is absolutely sickening,” Joe Biden said.

“No sitting president has ever done this,” Biden continued. “Never, never, never. No Republican president has done this. No Democratic president. We’ve had racists, and they’ve existed. They’ve tried to get elected president. He’s the first one that has.”

Biden went on during the town hall to accuse the president of attempting to “divide” the U.S. among racial lines.

“The way he pits people against one another is all designed to divide the country, divide people, not pull them together,” Biden said. “Look what he’s doing now. He’s blaming everything on China. He’s blaming everything on the Chinese. And people don’t make a distinction, as you well know, [between] a South Korean and someone from Beijing. They make no distinction. It’s Asia. And he’s using it as a wedge,” The Hill reported. Video Below

Joe Biden’s official remarks:

Following Biden’s claims, President Donald Trump responded, saying: “You know it’s interesting, because we did criminal justice reform … something that Obama and Biden were unable to do. We did opportunity cities. We did the greatest, if you look at opportunity zones– nobody’s ever thought of a plan like that.”

“Prior to the China plague coming in, floating in, coming into our country, and really doing terrible things all over the world, … we had the best African-American, Hispanic-American, Asian-American– almost every group was the best for unemployment. … And maybe most importantly, you look at criminal justice reform, … prison reform,” he said.

“I’ve done more for Black Americans than anybody, with a possible exception of Abraham Lincoln. Nobody has even been close,” he added.

Trump 2020 Senior Advisor Katrina Pierson also responded to Biden’s remarks in a statement, declaring: “This is an insult to the intelligence of Black voters.”

In May, Joe Biden angered many when he told Charlamagne Tha God on “The Breakfast Club”: “If you have a problem figuring out whether you’re for me or for Trump, then you ain’t black.”
