21 test positive for coronavirus on cruise ship off California

Twenty one people aboard the Grand Princess cruise ship off the California coast have tested positive for the coronavirus, Vice President Mike Pence said Friday.

Among those sickened are 19 crew members and two passengers. Officials are planning to test all 2,500 passengers and 1,100 crew members. Pence said passengers will likely be quarantined at various military bases, while crew members will be quarantined on the ship.

The ship has been held outside of San Francisco since Wednesday, after a passenger who was aboard a previous cruise on the same ship reportedly was confirmed positive and later died from the virus.
