AOC Calls for Impeachment Vote, Claims it Will Create “Stain” on Careers of Those Who Oppose

Freshman rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is calling for an impeachment vote.

Taking to Twitter, AOC wrote “The President is corrupt and must be impeached.”

In addition, AOC apparently sees a partisan benefit in an impeachment vote even if it fails, because she believes it will cause a “stain” in the careers for Republicans who against impeaching President Trump.

“If they want to fail it, then I want to see every Republican go on the record and knowingly vote against impeachment of this president — knowing his corruption, having it on the record so that they can have that stain on their careers for the rest of their lives.”

DailyCaller reports Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has called for a vote on impeachment, saying that Republicans need to go on the record with their continued support for President Donald Trump.

The freshman congresswoman insisted that it was incumbent upon the House to undertake impeachment proceedings against Trump even if they knew that the Senate would fail to convict.

Per FoxNews, Although Ocasio-Cortez has already called for impeachment, much of her caucus seemed reluctant. That included House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., who has warned about a failed impeachment bid potentially dooming efforts to prosecute Trump after he leaves office.

Pelosi reportedly told House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler, D-N.Y., that she wanted to see Trump in prison but refused his interest in impeaching Trump.

Nadler’s committee has led the charge on congressional investigations after the release of former Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report. Despite Nadler’s push for impeachment, Pelosi has insisted that Democrats “all work together.”
