Julian Castro failed the AP Fact Check on one of his provocative claims during Tuesday night’s Democratic party debate.
Castro claimed rust belt states Ohio, Michigan and PA are losing jobs under President Trump.
Per AP,
JULIAN CASTRO, former U.S. housing secretary: “Ohio, Michigan, and Pennsylvania actually in the latest jobs data have lost jobs, not gained them.”
THE FACTS: Nope.
Figures from the Labor Department show that the former Housing and Urban Development secretary is wrong.
So Castro’s statement is off.
#APFactCheck Julian Castro was wrong when he said "Ohio, Michigan, and Pennsylvania actually in the latest jobs data have lost jobs, not gained them." All three states added jobs in August, which is the latest data available. https://t.co/NpVGHsxjuD

Twitter users also blasted Castro for what appears to be an outright lie.
Hey @Politifact,
Twice tonight Julian Castro has claimed Ohio has lost jobs under @POTUS Trump.
Since https://t.co/SoAvVWV9kn reports there were 5,546,400 Ohioans employed in January 2017 https://t.co/ldMIwRqHOA and 5,591,700 in August 2019, it should be easy to #PANTSONFIRE him.— Wayne_In_Akron (@Wayne_In_Akron) October 16, 2019
.@JulianCastro has repeatedly said Ohio is losing jobs since @realdonaldtrump took office.
That's incorrect: https://t.co/rvbYeqRfJX
