President Donald Trump slammed CNN’s Jim Acosta Tuesday during a press conference in India, telling the reporter, “You ought to be ashamed of yourself”.
The exchange occurred when Acosta had asked President Trump if he would “pledge to the American people that [he] will not accept any foreign assistance in the upcoming election.”
“First of all, I want no help from any country, and I haven’t been given help from any country,” President Trump told Jim Acosta.
The President referenced a report about Russian interference in which many outlets, including CNN, were forced to backtrack their reporting. It claimed Congress “overstated” the assessment of 2020 Russian interference in the presidential election.
As per CNN, intel official Shelby Pierson “told lawmakers on the House Intelligence Committee that Russia is interfering in the 2020 election with the goal of helping President Donald Trump get reelected.” However, after being pressed further on the issue, intel officials later assessed that “the US does not have evidence that Russia’s interference this cycle is aimed at reelecting Trump.”
“If you see what CNN, your wonderful network said, I guess they apologized in a way. Didn’t they apologize for the fact that they said certain things that weren’t true? Tell me, what was their apology yesterday? What did they say?” the president asked Acosta. (Continued Below)
Instead of acknowledging the report from his network, Acosta proceeded to attack President Trump overseas by claiming: “Mr. President, I think our record on delivering the truth is a lot better than yours sometimes.”
The Commander in Chief fired back at the CNN reporter: “Let me tell you about your record. Your record is so bad that you ought to be ashamed of yourself. You have probably the worst record in the history of broadcasting.”
Acosta insisted: “I’m not ashamed of anything. And our organization is not ashamed of anything.” (Video Below)
